What to Expect
The OralID screening is quick and comfortable. Dr. Vahedi will dim the lights and use the small hand-held device to shine a safe fluorescent light over the tissues of your mouth, tongue and throat. Healthy tissue appears in one color while areas of concern fluoresce differently, making abnormalities easy to identify.
The entire screening takes just two to three minutes and can be performed during your regular cleaning appointment. If any areas of concern are found, Dr. Vahedi will discuss next steps, which may include monitoring or a biopsy referral.
